Taking Sides

I had chance i guess, i found this movie at the DVD stores and i grabbed it, I've seen it for the 1st time tonight and it was pretty Awesome!!! did u seen it?

A tale based on the life of Wilhelm Furtwangler, the controversial conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic whose tenure coincided with the controversial Nazi era. After the war, he was investigated as part of the Allies' de-Nazification programme. In the bombed-out Berlin of the immediate post-war period, the Allies slowly bring law and order--and justice--to bear on an occupied Germany. An American major is given the Furtwangler file, and is told to find everything he can and to prosecute the man ruthlessly. Tough and hard-nosed, Major Steve Arnold sets out to investigate a world of which he knows nothing. it's a good movie, but i think it ain't Stellan's best perfomance , but if Stellan wouldn't have been in this movie, it would have been boring lol

anything with Stellan is better with him in it.

He is such a great actor,it's a shame he doesn't get acknowledged more.

BTW: I've also seen Taking Sides and I really liked it. The movie is'nt an easy one, it's a sophisticated film and some people will find this film boring.

Anyway, I really liked this film. Stellans performance is as good as usual and he deserves more websites.

People who'll find this movie Boring , it's because they don't know what is a good movie lol. It's not my favorite Movie of Stellan, but i thought it was great. I mean i was used to see Stellan playing a Bad guy, but he was a victim in this one, and it's great to see how versatile he is!

What I really admire is, that Stellan manages somehow to make even bad guys sometimes a little bit likeable. For example in City of Ghosts, he played this bad ass, always wanting money, but he gave his character soul and there were few moments in this film, when I found his character (a little bit) likeable.

I had watched Taking Sides about 2 weeks ago and I think it is an amazing movie. In this movie Stellan has the chance to prove what a brilliant actor he is although his film character is a really horrible person.

I didn't find his film character that horrible. I don't think that his character was evil, just weak. It's kind of hard to judge, I guess.

I guess you are right, Wiki. His film character is rather weak than horrible and he just made the decision that was most convenient for him.

I think "Taking Sides" is a great movie based on a real story (these ones are always good). But I didn´t like it that much. Therefore I hadn´t watched it so many times as I watch other movies (not to mention my favorite movies). But I think it´s great to see him in a completely different role.
